Contrary to the old days of electro-shock dog collar training, today’s eCollars are safe, reliable and effective.
Modern eCollars are state-of-the-art and work in much the same way as a 10’s Unit in Physical Therapy. They use everything from a simple beep to a vibration that stimulates muscles in a range from 0 to 100. This way, you can feel out a dog’s sensitivity level for corrective stimulus without going too high – or putting them through an antiquated form of “shock treatment.”
We use eCollars on every dog we train so that we can improve the dog’s behavior and ease their stress level at the same time while training. We also use eCollars to ensure all of our dogs can be free and unleashed, but still under control, during all activities, in all environments, and in all conditions.
Great Off Leash Dog Training proudly uses the Mini Educator 1/2-Mile ET-300, designed by E-Collar Technologies. We chose this collar and this company because they have an established collaboration with dog training professionals that have over 100 years of experience designing and manufacturing dog training collars. They are completely water proof (to a depth of at least 500 feet), are shock-resistant, have a 1/2 mile range, are equipped with a flashlight, and carry a 2 year warranty. The remotes will even float to prevent loss during water activities. These collars also incorporate the latest technology and best features available on the market. As such, we feel they’re one of the most humane and effective dog training collars offered.
No. By combining our low-level, positive training techniques with the “blunt” stimulation of the eCollar, your dog will only experience “taps” of muscle stimulation that are similar to a reflex stimulation.
The stimulus we use is similar to the muscle stimulators used by doctors to build muscle, alleviate muscle spasms, and increase muscular range of motion. We only support the proper use of eCollars and promote the most humane tools and methods for dog training.
All the eCollar products we use are made in the USA and go through a series of rigorous testing to ensure your dog’s safety. We only use top-rated, proven, family-friendly and dog-friendly devices and methods.
YES! We all know how much some dogs love water, as well as how hot it gets in the summer. The eCollar we use from E-Collar Technologies uses advanced technology to assure waterproofing up to a depth of 500 feet for both the collar receiver and the remote transmitter. Once more, the remotes are not only shock-resistant, but also float to prevent loss during water activities.
Did we mention that there’s also a built-in flashlight? Whether you’re camping, taking a nighttime stroll, or out in the rain, your pooch will have a built-in strobe effect and regular flashlight-mode collar for greater visibility.
No. the eCollar should be taken off at night and/or when no one is communicating with the dog. In-fact, most find that they no longer need the eCollar on inside the home at all after just a few months of training.
To ensure your dog remains consistent (even after training), we do recommend having the eCollar on whenever you take the dog out of the house, or plan to communicate with the dog for more than a few minutes. Generally speaking, we recommend the eCollar be on any time you intend to take your dog out in public off-leash.
It’s important to act in accordance with your dog trainer’s advice, even after training. The eCollar and remote will become you and your dog’s new best friends!
